Welcome!
My name is Holly, and I have a passion for helping children and adults discover their own artistic ability. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from UT Arlington and have continued creating artwork while teaching students in a variety of settings over the years. I truly believe that everyone has what it takes to become an artist, and it is my privilege to help them on their journey.
My Story
Holly's Art Lessons began as an unexpected blessing during a challenging season of life. As a homeschool parent and art educator, I found myself unable to continue the weekly co-op classes I had loved teaching. While circumstances changed, my passion for sharing art and art history with children (and adults) never did. I began hosting a monthly "Art Club" in my home. Over the years I received increasing requests to offer lessons and workshops. Art Club eventually developed into Holly's Art Lessons: a community of art students eager to learn, create and grow together!
One thing you will quickly notice about me as we get to know each other is that I'm naturally soft-spoken and observant. I genuinely enjoy getting to know people one-on-one, which is one of the reasons I intentionally keep my classes small. I want every student to receive thoughtful, individualized instruction and to know they have my full attention.
I approach each lesson by looking for a student's unique strengths as well as the areas where they have an opportunity to improve. No two students learn or create exactly alike, so I adapt my teaching to meet each student where they are. I believe people learn best when they feel safe to experiment, ask questions, and work at their own pace.
I want my students to leave each lesson having learned or strengthened a skill they can immediately begin practicing on their own. I don't expect perfection, but I do value effort, curiosity, and persistence. Students can trust that I will take their ideas, their time, and their work seriously, celebrating what they're doing well while gently encouraging them toward continued growth. My most rewarding moments are when I get the privilege of watching students realize they can create artwork they once thought was beyond their ability.
Drawing and painting have brought me tremendous joy throughout my life, and it is an honor to share that with my students.
